MODIfication - The change we all hoped for!!

Rarely has any world leader come full circle the way Modi has. Denied a U.S. visa for nearly a decade for his handling of religious riots that broke out in the state he then led, Modi recently fled into New York to an overwhelming reception - as an immensely popular leader and a sought-after strategic partner. 

There has been a notably huge void in the whole democratic system - the element of trust that had eroded particularly in recent years as negligence both at the Centre and state level, had caused a loss of public confidence at a time when the expectations of the people were soaring. Modi with his enthusiastic and careful approach is essentially calling for a revival of the trust between the government, business, society and other institutions. This is the most critical element in restoring faith in the minds of people. A ray of hope and revival of sorts is so vital in building the economy. Hope the PM lives up to his words of bringing a better future. Hope for a better INDIA!

Almost as soon as Narendra Modi became prime minister of India, words spread around rapidly about the increasing level of apprehension on true India. Of course the growth of Gujarat had people believe in the man and led him to the throne. One would not quarrel much of what has recently been unleashed by the PM - Make-in-India campaign, a lion's step, as quoted by the PM himself. The driving of this project and restoring India's place in global manufacturing comes as a highlight. Sought to inject a new optimism among businesses and improve the economy through streamlining of sectors across the country, this campaign promises much. To succeed, the PM must bring about fundamental changes in the economy and steer a stable course in a country prone to conflicts.

Big Vision. A Better India. All it takes is a Change. Hopefully the man - Modi is the change. Let's be hopeful.

Change - The need of the hour!!!

Soldiers needed!!!

Not to guard the borders. Not to fight battles. 
But to stand up for women.

Epics and bed time stories that we had always heard of, while we were kids have all stressed at one common thing - that Women are symbol of motherhood and that they need to be respected and treated well. Moreso we Indians symbolize our women as goddesses. Forward to present India. Everyone would now admit to the fact that India has turned perilous for women. Molestation,  physical abuses and rapes have all become so common that we tend to come across a lot of such news everyday. 

We have long been hearing about law enforcement,  police force modernization for better India but nothing has taken into effect. That there was only one conviction for the 635 cases of rape reported in Delhi last year, according to the Home Ministry shows the clumsy situation that we are in, at present. Things seem to have gone out of control for the government, the roads have become unsafe for women. 

Not long ago, the whole nation felt the need to be united to voice against the brutality of Amanat, one who became a household name even though she was distance apart. At protests, activists seized the moment to highlight the structural ways India's cities are failing women. We all demanded stricter laws and stringent punishment including death sentences and castration for such sexual assaults. But, would this alone be able to deter such crimes? Not really. It is said 'Prevention is better than cure'. Why raise voice only when something goes wrong?

Why not fight against it at the first place to stop it from happening? and more so, what have we done to prevent it? It’s more to do with respecting oneself and others. Having a moral responsibility and standing up against heinous crimes as a unit then and there. More than asking women to carry pepper sprays like against vampires, why not teach and imprint boys to respect women and themselves. Have always been the case thus far, but lets just try to impose the importance of this accountability on boys so that they would themselves make India a better place for women when they grow up.

The header carries a recent Gillette campaign vowing for women. An initiative that could as well make one realize what it means. The same Gillette used to portray women in provocative ways in earlier ads just like any other company's ad does. Having said that, change is good. They have changed the way their campaign goes. Hope it stays the same way. Now its time for us to change. Don't live in the past.

Lets change for a better India. Safer India!!!
