Vintage Yuvi is back!

He was googling the middle of his bat, struggling his way to 2 off 9 balls, quite reminiscent to the pain staking 11 off 21 balls in the World T20 final against Sri Lanka. Those hardcore fans of Yuvi did not want a repeat. Those hardcore Indian fans did not want a repeat. As it turned out, there was no repeat. Just the Vintage Yuvi we've all known. He obliged to the expectations as he has does more often. As though rousing from a deep sleep, Yuvi pounced on the first two balls of the final over, flicking over backward square leg to the fence before pounding a six into the heaving crowd at midwicket. That rather brought much relief to the indian fans and Yuvi alike.

On his return, Yuvi has impressed while carrying out whatever he role he has been asked to play. He manned his area well in the field and put up an improved bowling display, which turned the match on its head. A part-time bowler as most call him, Yuvi brought the house down at the MCG by outfoxing ‘Big Show’ Maxwell on his home turf, the second time in 2 games in crucial overs where Australia would have fancied their chances with their most devastating batsman.

For now, even though we cant be so sure, Yuvi the finisher, the match winner seems to be still around there expected to make his way into the World T20 next month.  Let's hope for some Yuvi magic and a repeat of the 2007 World Cup.

7 tips for intimate healthcare for Women!

One aspect of health that is perhaps the most neglected is intimate care, with over 75% of all women being completely unaware of the need for a separate intimate care regime. Dr Suman Bijlani, MD, DGO, FCPS, a consulting gynecologist gives us tips on intimate care.
It's not easy being a woman. Women are still primary care givers and nurturers in any family. Those who work outside, have the additional challenge of juggling domestic responsibilities with professional aspirations. However, even as women effortlessly go about their varied roles, many end up neglecting their own health. And the one aspect of health that is perhaps the most neglected is intimate care, with over 75 per cent of all women being completely unaware of the need for a separate intimate care regime. Most women only seek curative measures and visit a doctor only when they experience discomfort and irritation in their intimate areas.

However, with the following simple and basic tips, they can take preventive measures and take greater control of their intimate care.

1. Make vaginal washing a part of your daily routine: Intimate care isn't something you should have to worry about only when you start experiencing discomfort. Regular care and preventive measures ensure you stay clean and healthy always. Care shouldn't be limited to washing only while bathing. Women should wash their intimate areas 2-3 times, especially during monsoons and menstrual cycles to keep infections at bay.

2. Don't use soap and water: Soap has a Ph factor of 5.5 which is the same as your skin. However, vaginal skin is very delicate and therefore Ph balance ranges from 3.8 to 4.5. It is essential to maintain the Ph balance to avoid dryness, soreness and irritation of the vagina as well as check the growth of harmful bacteria.

3. Don't scrub your intimate area: Never scrub or use a brush on your vagina. Vaginal skin is very delicate and you could end up with scratches and in pain. Use a soft towel to wipe the region.

4. Clean from front to back: Always clean the intimate area from the front to the back. In other words, clean the vagina first and move backwards towards the anus. This will prevent harmful bacteria that reside in the anus from infecting the vagina.

5. Use a wash with natural ingredients: Artificial chemicals make the vagina dry. However, naturally occurring chemicals like lactic acid help maintain the Ph balance and help restore smoothness of the vaginal area. Natural oils like Tea Tree Oil and Seabuck Thorn Oil are known for their soothing quality and fresh natural fragrance.

6. Wear cotton underwear: Cotton is the softest and most skin friendly fabric. It allows for air circulation and absorbs moisture quickly. While silk and satin underwear can be worn on special occasions, cotton underwear can be worn on a daily basis.

7. Wear comfortable clothing: Avoid tight fitting clothes as they restrict air circulation and cause the vaginal area to get compressed or creased in an unnatural way.

While there are a variety of over the counter products that promise whiter and tighter vaginas, always remember, health comes first. Here's to a healthy you!

Remain fit at work!

Sedentary lifestyle is one of the worst outcomes of modern lifestyle.

Being chained to your desk, work stress and working till late, including odd hours, can lead to a risky future with regards to health. Here's how you can make small changes in your lifestyle, without exercising.

- Pay attention to what you're eating. Avoid junk food as much as you can and avoid ordering from outdoor eateries as much as you can. Do not skip breakfast else, the urge to overeat increases during lunch time.

- Eat small portions of healthy snacks like ragi chips, nuts, fruits, popcorn, healthy oat biscuits, at regular intervals if there's too much time between your meals. Avoid overindulging, though. Do not combine stress with eating; generally, people tend to overeat due to stress. Also, have lots of water.

- Try walking as much as possible. Take the stairs, walk during your lunch break. If you take your vehicle to work, park it slightly away from your office so you have to walk, regardless. Stretch as much as possible and walk as and when you get the chance to.

 - If need be, resort to reminder apps on your phone that will send alerts for you to take breaks in order to rest your eyes, go for a stretch, take a walk and so on.

Humanity prevails!!!

Devastation. Catastrophic. Dreadful. Those who had been in Chennai over the fortnight would have understood what it really means. It seemed like a wily curse spelled on the city that's a perfect host to everyone, every-time. Not "வந்தாரை வாழவைக்கும் சென்னை" for no reason.

The city was found wanting all of a sudden. It dint take much time though, for people to respond. When all hopes seemed lost, Humans stood for humans. Risking neck deep water to save fellowmen.  Letting in complete strangers for shelter. Handing out whatever food they had to others. Joining hands for rescue. Everyone were friends. Everyone were heroes. Money dint matter. Not knowing people dint. Lives did.  Chennaiites went all in to save their city from drowning and their people from losing hope. Neighboring states joined hands. Indian army did their bit. So did every Indian. Humanity prevailed over nature's worst assault in over a century.

One disaster brought us all together. Erased all the differences. Differences that never really existed. They say people standing for people goes a long way in promoting humanity. It certainly did. Chennai lives another day. Chennaiites live on.

Those of you who want to do their bit in support for Chennai. Please do it here.

Hats off to all those NGOs and people who have been extending their support by all means

Chennai bounces back.. stronger than ever!!!

Nature has its way of setting things right. Be it paving way for its water source that has been disturbed by man or restoring humanity. It does both.

Chennai has been flayed with heavy rain over the last month recording over 50 inches of rain which is a new high in a century. With lakes and dams at over 90% of its capacity, risk of flood was always on the cards.

Low lying areas were worst hit. Neck deep water led to causalities and huge monetary loss for the city. People were left stranded for help and basic needs. Flooded roads and risk of cyclones suspended manufacturing and services. Chennai known for its prime lead in automobiles and IT is estimated to have incurred a loss of over 15000 crores due to this.

In all these, Chennaiites came out of their way in lending a helping hand. Distributing blankets, clothes, water, food and volunteering for rescue. Raising funds and what not. Being there when needed. Putting off all those claims of humanity being lost. Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Jains, It never mattered. All that mattered were lives and it was heartening to see the way people helped people. Immediate relief was in place. The community held up really well and spirit of Chennai came out for everyone to see. Humanity restored.

Now its up to the government to put in place rehabilitation efforts and ensure proper disaster management in future.

Hopefully everybody stays strong and pull it off together and help Chennai restore normalcy soon.

Praying for one and all.

Love found and lies within!!

Some days our bond was strong, some days heartrending and some days stagnant. I was not sure if I was in love with her or the idea of just being in love. This new, passionate and compelling love had no witness. Strangely we ourselves didn't confess it. All of a fortnight's bond that is. Sounds cramped for such a relationship to flourish I know but still there was this sweet chemistry between us like no other. Like they say it just takes little to fall in love. I did when I knew her better.
I failed to make her understand that it wasn't being right or wrong; it was about how we felt about each other. It was to accept the fact that there was something special which was beyond our control. I wanted to experience this love, to get married to her and tell the world how happy I would be with her by my side.
It was meant to be a fairytale for all we liked. But as fate would have it, an eventful night and an unfortunate conversation. Misunderstanding, or whatever, it was a fault of mine to make her think I let her down. And the girl who she is, I know she isn't going to get back to how we were earlier. But I have a slight hope that she will as I know for sure she likes me too. I'm missing her already. She wouldn't respond to me. My heart skips a beat whenever I hear a ping on my mobile just hoping it would be from her but not so. Not yet.
But I'm still hopeful.
