Just for laughs: Part -I

WASHINGTON POST ASKED FOR A TWO-LINE RHYME WITH THE MOST ROMANTIC FIRST LINE BUT THE LEAST ROMANTIC SECOND LINE.

1. My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife,
Marrying you screwed up my life.
2. I see your face when I am dreaming.
That's why I always wake up screaming.
3. Kind, intelligent, loving and hot;
This describes everything you are not.
4. I want to feel your sweet embrace;
But don't take that paper bag off your face.
5. I love your smile, your face, and your eyes.
Damn, I'm good at telling Lies.
6. My feelings for you no words can tell,
Except for maybe 'Go to hell.'
What inspired this amorous rhyme? Two parts tequila, one part lime !!

# A lot of ladies used to sit together every evening in
a park and talk non stop. One day they were sitting very
very quietly. A gentleman who would walk past the noisy group every day was surprised to see them all so quiet.
He inquired about this to which they replied, "You see,
today we are ALL present, so we don't know who to
gossip about." Ladies :D

# Preeto began a job as an elementary school counselor, and she was eager to help. One day during recess she noticed a sardar boy standing by himself on the side of a playing field while the rest of the kids enjoyed a game of football at the other. Preeto approached and asked if he was alright. The boy said he was. A little while later, however, Preeto noticed the sardar boy was in the same spot, still by himself. Approaching again, Preeto said, "Would you like me to be your friend?" Junior Santa hesitated, then said, "Okay", looking at the woman suspiciously. Feeling she was making progress, Preeto then asked, "Why are you standing here alone?" "Because," Junior Santa said with great exasperation, "I'm the f***ing goalkeeper."

A law student failed and decided to make a deal with the professor.
Student: Sir, do you know everything about law?
Prof.: Yes
Student: Ok. If you can answer this question, I will accept my marks as final, but, if you can't answer, you will have to give me an "A". Professor agreed.
Student: What is legal but not logical, logical but not legal and neither logical nor legal?
The professor pondered for hours without an answer. He had to finally give "A" to the student.
The following day the professor asked the same question to his students. He was shocked when all of them raised their hands. He asked one student to answer.
He said: Sir, you're 65 married to a 28 year old, this is legal but not logical. Your wife is having an affair with a 23 year old, this is logical but not legal. Your wife's boyfriend had failed in his exams and yet you gave him "A" grade. It's neither logical nor legal.;-)

The professor collapsed :-D

# When her late husband's will was read, a widow learnt he had left the bulk of his fortune to another woman.
Enraged, she rushed to change the inscription on her spouse's tombstone.
"Sorry, lady," said the stone cutter. "I inscribed 'Rest in Peace' on your orders. I can't change it now."
"Very well," she said grimly. "Just add, 'Until We Meet Again'."

The newlywed wife said to her husband when he returned from work, "I have great news for you. Pretty soon, we're going to be three in this house instead of two."
Her husband ran to her with a smile on his face and delight in his eyes.
He was glowing of happiness and kissing his wife when she said, "I'm glad that you feel this way since tomorrow morning, my mother moves in with us."

Change - The need of the hour!!!

Soldiers needed!!!
Not to guard the borders. Not to fight battles.
But to stand up for women.
If you respect women; you respect your nation.

Epics and bed time stories that we had always heard of, while we were kids have all stressed at one common thing - that Women are symbol of motherhood and that they need to be respected and treated well. Moreso we Indians symbolize our women as goddesses. Forward to present India. Everyone would now admit to the fact that India has turned perilous for women. Molestation,  physical abuses and rapes have all become so common that we tend to come across a lot of such news everyday.

We have long been hearing about law enforcement,  police force modernization for better India but nothing has taken into effect. That there was only one conviction for the 635 cases of rape reported in Delhi last year, according to the Home Ministry shows the clumsy situation that we are in, at present. Things seem to have gone out of control for the government, the roads have become unsafe for women.

Not long ago, the whole nation felt the need to be united to voice against the brutality of Amanat, one who became a household name even though she was distance apart. At protests, activists seized the moment to highlight the structural ways India's cities are failing women. We all demanded stricter laws and stringent punishment including death sentences and castration for such sexual assaults. But, would this alone be able to deter such crimes? Not really. It is said 'Prevention is better than cure'. Why raise voice only when something goes wrong?

Why not fight against it at the first place to stop it from happening? and more so, what have we done to prevent it? It’s more to do with respecting oneself and others. Having a moral responsibility and standing up against heinous crimes as a unit then and there. More than asking women to carry pepper sprays like against vampires, why not teach and imprint boys to respect women and themselves. Have always been the case thus far, but lets just try to impose the importance of this accountability on boys so that they would themselves make India a better place for women when they grow up.

The header carries a recent Gillette campaign vowing for women. An initiative that could as well make one realize what it means. The same Gillette used to portray women in provocative ways in earlier ads just like any other company's ad does. Having said that, change is good. They have changed the way their campaign goes. Hope it stays the same way. Now its time for us to change. Don't live in the past.

Lets change for a better India. Safer India!!!

Vishwaroopam row - Quotes and Tweets!!

Ban on Vishwaroopam took to the social networking sites and media like a storm. Here's what these celebs had to say;

Kamal Haasan: I think Tamil Nadu wants me out. I will have to seek a secular state to stay in, from Kashmir to Kerala. If I cannot find in India, I will hopefully find another secular country to take me in. MF Hussain had to do it, Haasan will do it.

Rajinikanth: I request Muslim brethren to give up their demand to ban Vishwaroopam. Please discuss with Kamal how to make changes without affecting the storyline. Kamal's screening for Muslims before the theatrical release shows his love and regard for them.

Abhishek Bachchan: “Ok, I’m confused. So are we in the film industry even meant to bother getting our films censored? Or work according to their guidelines? Offended by a film or its contents? simple solution…don’t buy the ticket to see the film? Let the audience decide for themselves.”

Shah Rukh Khan: We have all gone through it. We all have faced it. I have faced similar issues in the past with his own films such as My Name Is Khan, Billu Barber and Om Shanti Om. The whole controversy is very unfortunate.

Salman Khan: Dekho yaar its a movie and there are only two kinds of movies good or bad. Hit and flop and the only people who decide are the ones who buy tickets. Am 100% gonna see it.

Nagarjuna: He is one of the best actors our country has produced. I don't think he will do something to affect communal harmony of our country

Siddharth: Taliban Tamil Nadu. Heartbreaking to see the greatest Tamil actor of all time talking about leaving Tamil Nadu, about bankruptcy and about unfair persecution.

Manish Tewari: Time-cinematographic act revisited to ensure implementational integrity (of) certification decisions, otherwise each state would be its own censor (board).  Go there insist that you wanna see it, there is a supreme court judgement after the film is censored no body can stop it."

Rahul Bose: I don't think there was anything objectionable in Vishwaroopam for it to be banned.

Sushil Kumar Shinde: We are a free society. There is freedom of expression. There is liberty for artists. We have a Constitution

Shruti Hassan: “I've had the privilege of being born into an artistic family and my father is one of my greatest inspirations as an artist.its so saddening for me to see this day as a daughter and an artist where someone isn't allowed to put out their work and isn't allowed the basic freedom and respect that should be granted to any artist.love you bapu ..we are with you.”

R.Madhavan: Vishwroobam is not just a film anymore. Its a symbol of what is right and Right should prevail over might or we are never going to be a Progressive peaceful Nation.I bleed for you Kamal Sir.

Karan Johar: “a zone of shame for a sham of a political scenario....Kamal Haasan needs not only our support but fraternity proactivity.....like NOW!!!”

Tanuj Garg: “Vishwaroopam has turned into a nation-wide revolution and rightly so. In this country, everyone has the right to offend, except the film industry!!!!!!”

Democracy or DemoCrazy???

Democracy, Secularism, Freedom of speech!! We have all been taught of it ever since our childhood. Kids are still brought up being taught of it. And our own India very much stands symbolic to such traits. We have and always will take pride in being a republic and democratic country.

But turn of events lately has made everyone start to wonder if it is still the case now. We come across girls being arrested for their comments on social networking site over the alleged bandh reasoned for a political leader, Celebrities getting targeted every now and then over petty things, public often being reminded that freedom of speech comes at a cost, Minority stakes growing stronger and more demanding. All these at a time when common people have access to 'Rights to Information' act.

The latest such issue has been the government's ban on Vishwaroopam, a mega budget thriller from a legend who's known among millions all over the world. Ulaga Nayagan as he is deservingly called is one among a very few who has taken Indian cinema to greater heights and is still striving to give the film industry a lot more. He gets targeted more often than not. Mahanadhi had its share of opposal. So did Hey Ram, Alavandhaan, Virumaandi and Unnai Pol Oruvan.

While the initial opposal for Vishwaroopam by Muslim community was quite understandable considering the story line and filming, it is still confusing on how a ban could be posed on a movie which has been cleared by Central Board of Film Certification. And that too even before the film hit the screens. If there were any such scenes that could hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community, the film could as well be taken to the certification board again and modified with a consensus of the film maker and the opposal parties which is the ideal scenario. How does the government come into picture here? Possibilities are the opposal parties calling for governement intervention. Fair enough. The screening of the movie was hence banned on section 144 citing law and order situation. (The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (CrPc). 144. Power to issue order in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger.) First time ever, a tamil movie got screened everywhere on earth except TamilNadu.

On Jan 30, after much developments, a High Court Justice lifted the ban with Mr.Kamal agreeing to demands of the Muslim brothers for editing offensive scenes from the movie. However, soon after, the government challenged against this and eventually restored the ban. Appealing against court orders by involved parties are quite common but what could be the reason for the government's hasty approach? Talks are spreading that this could be the effect of Mr. Kamal's denial of TV rights for the film to a private channel and his favourable voice for P. Chidambaram for Presidential race. More such reasons are anybody's guess. First screening of the movie were stopped half way much to the dismay of fans. Theatres that screened the movie got attacked by unknown gang. Dissappointed fans went on protests. Good times for media though, cashing in on the high TRP ratings. We, ardent fans of Kamal and his movies are still waiting to get to see the film.
